Gently roll the print head up on the plate, then apply pressure and roll off the plate. Make one or two light pressure passes to form the paper, followed by two to six high pressure passes to print the plate.
Start and finish the plate with the roller extended beyond the plate edge. The print path is 3 1/2" inches wide. Advance the platen in 3" inch or less increments to ensure overlap.
The Uber is designed with a full 2" inches roller height adjustment. Beam height directly impacts the amount of force applied to the plate. As the beam is lowered, leverage is increased on the print-head, creating more force on the plate.
Two methods for reading and setting beam height: a) Using height gauge for extreme adjustments. b) Sight or feel beam end for quick or fine adjustment. Finger flush or slightly lower / higher is the correct height for most plate and blanket combinations.

Correct beam height.
Beam height too low. Print head does not move freely.
Beam height set too high.
Control the pressure with blanket thickness. The thicker the blanket, the lower the pressure on the plate. Blanket #1 (thin 1/16") is used for high pressure intaglio or ghost prints. Blanket #2 ( 3/32" medium) is ideal for most plate types including high pressure intaglio. Blanket #3 (1/8" thick) is used for low pressure relief or very loose monotypes.
Center the plate on the platen using the registration grid.
Place the paper face down and lock in place with the trap bar.
Roll out the blanket and then reposition the trap bar(s) on top of the blanket near the plate edges.
Slide the platen beyond the plate edge (dotted line) as shown.
Use a consistent number of strokes or passes across the plate surface. Start with 1-2 light roller passes to form (emboss) the paper to the plate. For high pressure intaglio make 6-8 roller passes, then advance the platen and repeat across the plate. For monotypes and relief printing the number of roller passes under pressure is 2-4 depending on the ink body. The Uber's unique design gives you total pressure control. Print all or a portion of the plate. Print the plate with consistent pressure or vary the pressure, the choice is yours.
Align magnetic roller guides with any corresponding guide on the registration grid.
Gently roll up onto the plate, then apply pressure all the way off the plate edge. Repeat on the back stroke.
Tilt handles up to engage the magnet against the wear plate. Advance the platen to the next guide mark.
Remove the platen and roll back the blankets.
